In the pilot stage of this project, we collected a small but diverse range of stories of adult learners who followed different paths and contended with different challenges to participate in English, maths, ICT and other courses. We share their experience of building their skills and confidence to move into higher level courses, voluntary work and frequently employment. They talk about their journey and the impact on themselves, their families and local communities.
Some learners have contributed video and audio about different aspects of their journeys and many tutors have also written about the challenges and successes. We hope the personal and inspirational nature of each of these stories will encourage learner participation in adult education.
You are welcome to use these resources with learners to support them to contribute their own individual stories about their diverse lives and learning journeys.
