“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
We are looking for 500 to 1000 words (a short page or two) of your experience as a learner of developing adult literacies and numeracies in English, maths and ICT as a celebration of learners’ lifelong learning success stories. We would be delighted to include images or short audio or video clips, perhaps of objects, achievements or momentos you associate with your learning journey and how English, maths and ICT helped you. You might want to talk about:
Who are you and what is your background?
What adult education path did you take and why?
What inspired you, what options and limitations did you see?
What blocks did you experience during your studies?
In your learning? The institution? Life generally?
What helped you overcome the challenges?
People? Experiences? Thoughts?
Where are you now?
How did participating in adult education contribute to improving your quality of life?
And others, e.g. family, friends, community, colleagues?
What would you say to others starting out on their journey in to adult education, and why?
To include a short profile and photo, and written in accessible Plain English.
“We are collecting and publishing an anthology of inspirational adult learner stories, and would love to hear from you and your learners”
